Second Day - (Console Holy Face)
Daily Preparatory Prayer O Most Holy and Blessed Trinity, through the intercession of Holy Mary, whose soul was pierced through by a sword of sorrow at the sight of the passion of her Divine Son, we ask Your help in making a perfect Novena of reparation with Jesus, united with all His sorrows, love and total abandonment. We now implore all the Angels and Saints to intercede for us as we pray this Holy Novena to the Most Holy Face of Jesus and for the glory of the most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. (Start novena) "All those who, attracted by My love, and venerating My countenance, shall receive, by virtue of My humanity, a brilliant and vivid impression of My divinity. This splendor shall enlighten the depths of their souls, so that in eternal glory the celestial court shall marvel at the marked likeness of their features with My divine countenance." (Our Lord Jesus Christ to St. Gertrude) Psalm 51, 5-6a. My offenses truly I know them; My sin is always before me. Against You, You alone, have I sinned; What is evil in Your sight I have done. Most Holy Face of Jesus, we are truly sorry that we have hurt You so much by constantly doing what is wrong; and for all the good works we have failed to do. Immaculate Heart of Mary, Saint Joseph, intercede for us, help us to console the Most Holy Face of Jesus. Pray that we may share in the tremendous love Thou hast for one another, and for the most Holy and Blessed Trinity. Amen. Through the merits of Your precious blood and Your Holy Face, O Jesus, grant us our petition, Pardon and Mercy. Prayer to the Holy Spirit Come, Holy Spirit, Sanctifier, all powerful God of love, Thou who didst fill the Virgin Mary with grace, Thou who didst wonderfully transform the hearts of the apostles, Thou who didst endow all Thy martyrs with a miraculous heroism, come and sanctify us, illumine our minds, strengthen our wills, purify our consciences, rectify our judgments, set our hearts on fire and preserve us from the misfortune of resisting Thine inspirations. We consecrate to Thee our understanding, our heart and our will, our whole being for time and for eternity. May our understanding be always submissive to Thy heavenly inspirations and to the teachings of Thy Holy Catholic Church, of which Thou art the infallible guide; may our heart be ever inflamed with love of God and neighbor; may our will be ever conformed to the divine will, and may our whole life be a faithful imitation of the life and virtues of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom with the Father and Thee be honor and glory forever. Amen Pray one (1) Our Father, (3) Hail Mary’s, (1) Glory Be. O Bleeding Face, O Face Divine, be every adoration Thine. (Three times) Day One - (Console Holy Face)

(Our Lord Jesus Christ to St. Gertrude) Psalm 51, 3-4. Have mercy on me, O God in Your goodness, in Your great tenderness wipe away my faults; wash me clean of my guilt, purify me from my sin. O most Holy Face of Jesus, look with tenderness on us who are sinners. You are a merciful God, full of love and compassion. Keep us pure of heart, so that we may see Thee always. Mary, our Mother, intercede for us; Saint Joseph, pray for us. Through the merits of Your precious Blood and Your Holy Face, O Jesus, grant us our petition, , Pardon and Mercy. Prayer to Our Almighty Father Almighty Father, come into our hearts, and so fill us with Your love that forsaking all evil desires, we may embrace You, our only good. Show us, O Lord our God, what You are to us. Say to our souls, I am your salvation, speak so that we may hear. Our hearts are before You; open our ears; let us hasten after Your voice. Hide not Your Face from us, we beseech You, O Lord. Open our hearts so that You may enter in. Repair the ruined mansions, that You may dwell therein. Hear us, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your only Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever Amen.(St. Augustine) Pray one (1) Our Father, (3) Hail Mary’s, (1) Glory Be. (Three times) HOLY FACE HISTORY AND TIMELINE A Brief Timeline of Events Relating to the Holy Face and Holy Face Devotion ~33 AD: Veronica wipes Our Lord's face with her veil and an image of His Holy Face miraculously appears on the veil. Veronica later passes the relic of the veil to Clement I (3rd successor of St. Peter). The relic of the veil was kept in catacombs for the next 3 centuries during persecutions of the Church. After that time, Holy Veil was placed in the church that was constructed over the tomb of St. Peter (later to become the Basilica of St. Peter). The Holy Veil has since been kept intact throughout the centuries. 1843-1847: Sister Mary of St. Peter, a Carmelite nun in Tours France experiences a series of revelations from Our Lord about a powerful devotion He wished to be established worldwide - the devotion to His Holy Face. The express purpose of this devotion was to make reparation for the numerous blasphemies and profanities taking place in the world but was also established as a means through which we can all appeal to God for anything we wish. The devotion revealed by Our Lord to Sister Mary of St. Peter consists primarily of reciting the "Golden Arrow Prayer" and the "Litany of the Holy Face" (as seen on our Devotion page). It also consists of some additional prayers said with a chaplet (or small rosary) and wearing of a Holy Face Cross engraved with the words "Blessed be the Name of God" on the front and "Begone, Satan!" on the back. 1849: Shortly after the death of Sister Mary of St. Peter, Pope Pius IX ordered public prayers be offered in all churches in Rome to implore God's mercy on the Papal States due to revolution occurring at the time. As part of these public prayers, a three-day exposition of the relic of Veronica's veil was held for public veneration at St. Peter's Basilica. On the third day of the showing, a miracle occurred through which Our Lord's face on the veil became very distinct and glowed with a soft light. The Canons of the Basilica ordered the bells rung at sight of the miracle, which attracted crowds of people. The miracle lasted for three hours, and was attested to by an apostolic notary during the incident. That same evening etchings and representations of the effigy were made and touched to the relic of Veronica's veil and later sent abroad. Afterward, a custom was introduced where copies of the veil were sent to Rome to be touched to the original veil, making them objects of special devotion. These copies are typically noted to have stamps and/or wax authenticating seals in the lower corner, indicating it was touched to the original veil. Here are links to high resolution framed and unframed photos of one of these 3rd class relics. There are more copies of these images on our Holy Face Images page as well. Feel free to have any of these images printed to assist you with practicing the Holy Face devotion. 1849-1876: Two of the relics were sent to Leo Dupont who continued the Holy Face devotion privately throughout the rest of his life until 1876. Leo Dupont hung one of these images in his parlor and kept a crystal oil lamp in front of it, lit continuously as a sign of veneration. Soon afterward first class miracles of healings started to occur to those who said the devotional prayers ("Golden Arrow Prayer", the "Litany of the Holy Face") with Leo Dupont in front of his Holy Face image, and who anointed themselves with the oil from his lamp. These miracles continued for 30 years and were so numerous that Pope Pius IX declared Leo Dupont to be perhaps one of the greatest miracle workers in Church history! The fact that so many first class miracles occurred through this devotion attests to the authenticity of the revelations from Our Lord to Sister Mary of St. Peter. 1885: While devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus has always existed in some form or another, these revelations and miraculous occurrences lead to this special devotion being established by Pope Leo XIII as an Archconfraternity; and contrary to custom, He immediately established it for the ENTIRE WORLD. 1885-1897: It was a well-known fact the St. Therese of Lisieux and her family registered as members of the Archconfraternity of Reparation to the Holy Face at Tours France and that St. Therese herself was so devoted to this that she added the title to her name at the time she took the habit. This is why you will often see St. Therese referred to as St. Therese of the Child Jesus "and of the Holy Face". On Saturday the 15th, Janie Garza celebrated her 25th anniversary of receiving messages from the Blessed Mother. Below is her radio interview on As the Spirit Leads. Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the February 15, 2014
Feast day of Mother of Compassion and Love Our Lady: Dear children, my heart is so joyful to be with each one of you and to come together to give glory to God for these past twenty-five years. You have been so blessed, my little ones, and have received many graces as a family. You have been my messengers of compassion and love, and you have spread this compassion and love among many families, and for this I thank you. Little children, I continue to invite you to open your hearts, so that the Holy Spirit will fill your hearts with the importance of family prayer. I know, my little ones, that you are undergoing many trials within your family and that many are your struggles to remain in the spirit of prayer. I say to you: pray, my little ones, pray and do not allow my adversary to keep you from praying for the struggles in your family and for peace in the world, for prayer is the remedy to heal all hearts. I invite you again, my little children, to pray your family Rosary every day, for the Rosary is a powerful weapon against my adversary. Never doubt this. Continue to pray for the Bride of my Son and for unconverted sinners. I invite you again to receive frequently the sacrament of Reconciliation and to attend daily Mass as frequently as you can. This will help you, little children, to be able to embrace the sufferings in your family and to pray against the evil in the world. Remember that prayer is your protection. Today, little children, I, your Mother of Compassion and Love, say to each one of you: come to the arms of your heavenly Mother. Come, my children, come to me, and I will carry you in the bosom of my most Immaculate Heart. I will help you to pray when you are weak in prayer. I will bestow on you special graces when you are suffering and finding it difficult to live in the world, where many have lost their way. Run to the arms of your Mother of Compassion and Love. Waste no time, but run quickly. I wait for you with loving arms. Talk to me and trust in my powerful intercession. I love you, my children. Oh, how I love you! If you trust in my words and embrace them, I will draw you so close to the heart of my Son and to the love of St. Joseph. God’s peace to you. Thank you for listening to my message. |
